Providence +8 at Fairfield

Fairfield was destroyed on the glass by a Northeast conference team (Quinnipac) in the first game of the season

Portland +15 vs Washington

Solid Portland team should give a sloppy UW team a run for their money. UW=one of the dumbest teams in NCAA

Florida International (+12.5) vs George Mason

Who wants to lay a dozen with a depleted GM team compared to last year and Hewitt coaching them? Not me!

Why Vegas cleans up tomorrow night (Oregon/Stanford)

November 12, 2011 by TPowell
using the common opponents approach, Oregon should be around a touchdown favorite against Stanford on a neutral field. Given Stanford's better ATS, I would give them 2-3 points to balance it out a little. Correct line is Oregon -1 without considering how banged up Stanford is. The wrong team is favored here guys. Books will clean up off the public pounding Stanford until they lose ATS and SU. Oregon wins this game SU and covers. Vegas has thought this all year and I'll stick by them

Oregon (+3.5)

Oregon AT Washington (-16.5)

Back!!!

April 29, 2011 by TPowell
Almost done with school so I'm going to hop back into MLB pretty soon. Going to post all of my leans in here from time to time before I start back in a couple weeks after schools over.

4/29/11

Washington Nationals ML (+150)

Lincecum has yet to pitch 8 innings this year and it won't happen at all unless he can keep his pitch count down. He's been over 110 pitches in his last 3 starts and issued 10 walks. I love fading top pitchers who make these kind of mistakes. Jason Marquis is rock solid so far this... More...

Regional Breakdown

March 14, 2011 by TPowell
Keep in mind this is my PERSONAL feelings on the matchups. If I enter bracket tournaments, I'll pick more upsets just because I think the risk/reward is in my favor.

WEST REGIONAL

Duke over Michigan (something tells me Michigan will frustrate a low basketball iq team like Tenny)
Texas over Arizona (Could go either way because of Barnes coaching but I think Texas is very underseeded)
UConn over Cincinnati (Something tells me UConn could flame out early but remarkable in tourny play this year)
SDSU over Temple (This game will be very tight and could go the other way but SDSU... More...

Best Field Ever?

March 14, 2011 by TPowell
The major conferences are certainly down it seems but the smaller conferences are VERY good this year. Lets break down the double digit seeds outside of the play in games and 16 seeds.

Princeton- Typical Ivy League team but Princeton is solid
Marquette- Quality Big East team who has played more close games than anybody
Indiana State- Missouri State or Wichita should be here but ISU has talent for a 14 seed
Georgia- Typical talented team who for whatever reason hasn't produced like they should
Long Island- Dont really follow them but from what I've saw, very average 15 seed
Memphis- FADE CITYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY (doesnt... More...

College Basketball in Review by TPowell

December 26, 2010 by TPowell
Top Overachievers:

Washington State (7-2 ATS) (4 points from being 9-0 ATS)

Louisville (6-2 ATS)

Top Underachievers:

Baylor (2-4 ATS) (3 SU losses as favorite)

Murray State (3-6 ATS) (3 wins came by a total of 8 points ATS)

Washington State:

One of the biggest surprises this season has been the resurgence of basketball at WSU. Former coach Tony Bennett left the program for Virginia after guiding the Cougars to a 69-33 record in 3 seasons, including a Sweet 16 in 2007-2008.

Ken Bone may not be a household name but he... More...

Truth Behind "Trap" Games

March 2, 2010 by TPowell

As I check SBR this afternoon, I see many uneasy bettors wondering why Villanova is only giving 3.5 points at Cincy or why USF is only giving 2.5 points to DePaul. The fact of the matter is that these lines are pretty accurate. On a neutral floor, would you back Villanova -8.5 against Cincinnati? Would you back Villanova -13.5 at home against the same Cincinnati team? If the answer is no, then the game in question is hardly a trap. In college basketball, the universal point spread advantage for home court is 5 points. On a neutral floor, you would add 5 points to the road team to get the correct line. I, like many others used to believe in these "traps" but the truth is that traps don't exist. For every game, there is a VERY logicial explanation or formula for the lines that the makers come out with. Another tip I'd like to share is that games that the public view as traps, usually end VERY close to the opening line. I myself am thinking of a teaser involing Villanova and South Florida, maybe even a ML parlay
